Who did the best cover of Me and Bobby McGee?

Of course, Kris Kristofferson wrote it and sang it originally, and Janis Joplin did the best known version. But it's been covered by many others, including Roger Miller, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gordon Lightfoot, Pink, etc. It's one of my favorite songs, and I can almost see Bobby McGee slipping away up near Salinas, while his/her lover mourns and wishes he/she could have one more yesterday.
